How about thinking what to write? Nothing really new about me. Still the same old fellow struggling to live life’s absurdity. For one, politics just gets me crazy. Here in the Philippines, you can’t (or if you can, it’s hard to) get politics out of your way. Some would say that it is now the lifeblood of our nation. Like flies feasting over a corpse, a number of Filipinos get hooked up with something both complex and inviting.
One classic OPM expresses:
TUKSO
Kayrami nang winasak na tahanan,
kayrami nang matang pinaluha,
O, tukso, layuan mo ako…
How about making "politika" as the replacement of the subject. Sad but true, politics had created even worse effects. And it is one of the reasons why our condition has gotten worse and worse.
What makes Politics dirty is the way people politicize. I wonder if it possible to politicize without inflicting "harm" to people. Besides, every Filipino has, consciously or unconsciously, longing to live in a State of safety and security.
When it comes to number, I believe, Filipinos possessing patriotism is great. When it comes to intensity of this feeling, over familial love, I believe it is weak. Then and there, we cannot blame our fellow Filipinos for feeling and acting that way for they, we, have suffered much.
If I would draw a symbolism of a Filipino, it would be a human whose body systems are visible & detailed, and all forms of weapons have each of the organs damaged and dysfunctional. Filipinos have experienced numerous types of torture: mental, spiritual, emotional, physical, etc. literally and figuratively, both in the micro and macro perspectives. And what is our status? I leave the answer to you.
It’s not really a big deal to be writing and reading about our current condition. We are living in a "democratic" (at least by form) country and freedom of expression shall be inviolable. But what infects the social wound is our apathy. Worse, our insensitivity. Media has made these issues sensuous creating much more of an entertainment; voters have cut the survival short having their votes sold for a very cheap price; public officials have stuck with the tradition of recollecting the price of candidacy through corruption depicting stereotypes in the eyes of those "served"; professionals have lost the value of "utang na loob" to motherland that bore and nurtured them. EACH OF US IS ACCOUNTABLE for what we are experiencing right now.
At the end of the day, the choice is always our to make. To heal the wounds and create a difference, or simply inject ourselves with anesthesia to get through.

All alone, I didn’t like the feeling
All alone, I sat and cried
All alone, I had to find some meaning
In the center of the pain I felt inside…
All alone, I came into the world
All alone, I will someday die
Solid stone is just sand and water
Sand and water, and a million years gone by…
I will see you in the light of a thousand suns
I will hear you in the sound of the waves
I will know you when I come, as we all will come
Through the doors, beyond the grave…
All alone, I heal this heart of sorrow
All alone, I raise this child
Flesh and bone, he’s just bursting towards tomorrow
And his laughter fills my world, and wears your smile…

I’m running out of tomorrow,
counting the morning with my fingers.
What have I become, I ask myself,
what have I become?
What will I leave behind,
when my time comes?
The world would go on turning,
sun would go on shining,
you would go on with your life.
Without me.

Sleeping beauty has misplaced her crown.
Now she’s hoping she will find it.
But sleeping beauty never searches for it.
The crown has been missing for a long while.
But sleeping beauty never minds.
She was surprised to know
that one dared to ask where her crown is.
Everyone cared less in looking for it.
But sleeping beauty never minds.
What is the difference between a princess
and an ordinary girl?
When the former is not wearing her crown.
Whom will the prince be searching for?
When the real princess is dusty and undone.
Or is the prince living his own life,
wanting not a princess but an ordinary girl
to occupy the throne?
But a prince is just the king and queen’s child,
and a princess is just the same.
They get married for their kingdom’s sake.
But more often, yes more often,
true love happens when the prince marries a commoner,
and the princess marries the beast.
